Pecan husks on the pool floor and a salt cell that keeps giving up? Jonestown has its own water utility and some of the oldest pecans on the north shore, and those two facts explain most of what we get called out for here.

Two local things sit behind almost all of it. Jonestown is small, about a couple of thousand people, and it has two things working on your pool that most towns don't: mature pecan trees and its own hard water supply. Jonestown is Travis County, up on the north shore of Lake Travis.

Text Us What's HappeningJones Brothers Park is thirty-two lakeshore acres on the Sandy Creek arm, with the town's three public boat ramps and its swimming beach, and it's named for the brothers who developed this place in the 1930s once Mansfield Dam turned the land into waterfront.
It's the middle of our Jonestown route. From the park we're minutes from the Jonestown Hills and South Jonestown Hills streets, up the hill into Panoramic Hills and White Rim Mountain, and out along the shoreline to Northshore and the Hollows.
It also sits near Pecan Park, which is the other half of the story. That grove along Big Sandy Creek is why autumn here's a real job rather than a nuisance, and why we bring a vacuum rather than just a net.
We're based at Red Bud Lane and Forest Creek in Round Rock, and Jonestown is about twenty-six miles northwest, roughly thirty-five minutes. We take SH-45 to 183A north, then either RM 1431 west or Lime Creek Road, depending on which end of town we're headed for.
Lime Creek Road is the quieter way in and drops us near the Northshore end. RM 1431 is faster when we're carrying on to Lago Vista afterwards. In town, Reed Park Road and Sandy Creek Road cover most of it, and the streets off them climb hard in places.
We run Jonestown and Lago Vista on the same days because they share one road in, so a day or two's notice usually gets you a better window. Text us for same-day availability. Being a small town isn't a reason to skip a place, but it's a reason to plan the trip properly.
Like most of the north shore, the soil is thin Brackett over rock outcrop, mapped on slopes of one to twelve percent. That's gentler than Lago Vista next door but still enough that equipment pads often sit at a different level from the pool, so access is worth checking before anyone quotes.
The other thing that shortens equipment life here's the water: at about eleven grains per gallon, lime plates onto salt cell blades and builds up in heaters. Jonestown has its own water supply corporation rather than a big city system, and it draws from the Sandy Creek arm of Lake Travis specifically rather than the main body, pretreating with sodium permanganate before filtering and disinfecting.
The utility puts hardness at about eleven grains per gallon, roughly 190 parts per million. That's firmly hard water, and in a pool it does the usual things: a heater working harder for less, a salt cell that plates over and stops producing early, and a line on the tile that brushing won't remove. On eleven grain water a salt cell cleaning is a routine job rather than an emergency, and it's much cheaper than a new cell.
The ground is thin Brackett over rock outcrop on slopes of one to twelve percent, so pads stay level but digging is a genuine job. The pecans along Big Sandy Creek are the third factor, and the one most owners underestimate.
Autumn is the heavy season here, which is the opposite of the Hill Country towns west of the lake.
Autumn. The big one. Pecan husks, twigs and leaves drop for weeks and sink to the floor, staining plaster and grout if they're left. Skimming won't keep up; the floor needs vacuuming.
Spring. The lake fills with people again. A filter that took a full pecan season in autumn won't carry a summer, so this is the moment to deal with it.
