Text Us What's HappeningBlue Hole sits on the South Fork of the San Gabriel just north of the Square, under limestone bluffs, and it's about as good a shorthand for Georgetown as anything. Walk five minutes and you're on the most photographed courthouse square in Texas. Walk the other way and you're in San Gabriel Park.
It matters to us because the river is the middle of our Georgetown route and the middle of the town's pool problems. The two forks of the San Gabriel run right through the city, and the pecans and bald cypress along that corridor drop harder and longer than the live oaks people usually worry about. If your yard backs onto that green strip anywhere between Blue Hole, Chandler Park and San Gabriel Park, we already know what your skimmer looks like in November.
From there we're a short run to Southwestern University, the Palace Theatre, the public library, and out Williams Drive toward Sun City.
We're based near the intersection at Red Bud Lane and Forest Creek Dr in Round Rock. Georgetown is eleven and a half miles straight up I-35, about nineteen minutes, and it's one of the shortest runs on our week.
There are two ways in and we use both. I-35 is fastest outside rush hour and drops us at Georgetown's Inner Loop and Austin Avenue for anything near the Square, Katy Crossing or Crystal Knoll Terrace. When I-35 is stacked, which it reliably is northbound between about four and six, we take A W Grimes Boulevard north to FM 1460 instead and come in past Teravista and La Conterra. It's a couple of minutes longer on paper and much faster in practice.
Inside town the route splits on the river. Williams Drive and D B Wood Road take us northwest toward Sun City, Berry Creek and the Lake Georgetown side near Cedar Breaks Park. University Avenue and SH-29 run west to Wolf Ranch, Shadow Canyon and the newer sections. And FM 971 and the Northeast Inner Loop cover the east side out toward the Georgetown airport.
On the older ones we're usually looking at a pump motor, a heater throwing a code, or a salt cell that has quietly stopped keeping up. On the newer ones it's more often a setting, a sensor, or an automation panel nobody configured properly at handover, and sometimes it's a warranty part that the manufacturer should be replacing rather than you.

Here's something most Georgetown pool owners don't know: your fill water may not be the same water as your neighbor's. The city's own water quality report says Georgetown draws from Lake Georgetown and Lake Stillhouse Hollow through the Brazos River Authority, and also brings in Lake Travis water through the LCRA that gets treated in Leander or Round Rock first. Some of the Lake Georgetown supply is treated in Round Rock before it reaches you.
That's three different reservoirs and three different treatment plants feeding one city. The city doesn't publish a hardness figure, so we test instead. The practical effect is real: a chemical routine tuned on one side of Georgetown can be wrong on the other. We test rather than assume.
The ground is easier. Georgetown sits on Denton silty clay, a deep, chalky, lime-rich soil that holds together well. It doesn't heave the way the black clay east of here does, so equipment pads generally stay put. The lime in it's the same reason the water is hard.
The river corridor and a blended water supply make the calendar here its own thing.
Spring. Pollen, oak catkins and the first real heat. The Red Poppy Festival at the end of April is roughly when everyone remembers they own a pool, and it's the busiest week of our Georgetown year.
Summer. Long stretches above 100 burn chlorine faster than the label allows, and the minerals start leaving a line on the tile. This is when a heater that has been working against hard water all year starts running without ever quite getting there.
Fall. Pecan season, and along the San Gabriel that's an event rather than a nuisance. Husks and twigs drop for weeks and they sink, so skimming alone won't keep up.

Sun City and the streets around it, plus Berry Creek. At more than 8,500 homes Sun City is the largest active adult community in Texas, and a lot of those owners want the pool handled rather than explained. Near Berry Springs Park and Preserve and Cedar Breaks Park on Lake Georgetown.
Wolf Ranch West, Shadow Canyon, Vista Pointe and the newer sections out along University Avenue and D B Wood Road. Close to Garey Park and the Goodwater Loop trailheads.
The Square and the Williamson County Courthouse, Blue Hole Park, San Gabriel Park, the Georgetown Public Library, the Palace Theatre and Southwestern University. Katy Crossing, Crystal Knoll Terrace and Reata Trails sit in this part of town.
Teravista, Pinnacle and La Conterra, along the Teravista Golf Club and right where Georgetown runs into Round Rock. The closest part of the city to our base.

We could spread out across Central Texas. We cover a smaller area so we can know it properly, and Georgetown is a good example of why.
It's the only city we serve where the fill water can come from three different reservoirs depending on which side of town you're on. We know that because we're up here most weeks testing it, not because we read it somewhere. The same goes for knowing that the pecans along the San Gabriel behave differently from live oaks, and that a Sun City pool and a Wolf Ranch pool are usually at opposite ends of their equipment's life.
Eleven miles also means coming back isn't a production. If something needs a second look, we look at it.
